Diffusion- The movement of particles from high to low concentrations
to reach equilibrium.
Equilibrium-a stable state where particles move in both directions at
the same speed.
Hypotonic- More concentrated particles on the inside, water
moves in to the cell.
Hypertonic- More concentrated particles on the outside, water
moves out of the cell.
Isotonic- When particles are equal inside and out resulting in no net
movement of water.
Osmosis- The diffusion of water to allow for equal concentrations of
particles
